Hello Friends, Welcome Back to Finology Legal!
In today’s Video I am discussing Fundamental Right Article 19 of the Indian Constitution.
Article 19 grants 2 kinds of Right:
1. 19(1) – 6 Fundamental Freedoms of Speech and Expression
2. 19(2)-(6) – And Grounds of Reasonable Restrictions which can be applied by the State to Curtail the Freedoms provided under 19(1) of the Indian Constitution

While making the Constitution, Our Framers paid special attention to this Background that our Country had been under the shackles of Foreign Rule for more than 200 years! And during this Period our citizens were deprived of Fundamental Rights.
So while Framing Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, Lot of discussion was involved, so many rights were proposed that can be included under Article 19. For Example, H.V. Kamath proposed that just like U.S. citizens; even Indian Citizens should have the Right to Bear Arms, etc, etc.
Then Article 19 was badly treated during the Emergency Period – with respect to Freedom of Press, this period is also known as Censorship Period.

Finally, We have the Our Article 19 in this Format:
19. Protection of certain rights regarding freedom of speech
All citizens shall have the right
(a) to freedom of speech and expression;
(b) to assemble peaceably and without arms;
(c) to form associations or unions;
(d) to move freely throughout the territory of India;
(e) to reside and settle in any part of the territory of India; and
(f) omitted
(g) to practise any profession, or to carry on any occupation, trade or business

Article 19(2)-(6) of The Indian Constitution – Reasonable Restrictions Which can be applied on Article 19(1)
